Golden Malted® is hiring a full-time experienced Quality Control Inspector at our South Bend, IN facility. Available shift is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  Very clean and organized facility.

The Quality Control Inspector evaluates, implements, provides feedback and recommendations on existing and new products and processes along with cost saving initiatives. This will include, but is not limited to items pertaining to incoming material, shipments, manufacturing processes, finished goods, inventory and R&D.

The Quality Control Inspector is also responsible for examining and testing products and materials for signs of damage or defects that could reduce their overall quality and functionality. They will make sure that the products and materials meet company, customer and government standards and safety regulations.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Inspect and document incoming material to confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and documenting unacceptable materials.
  • Inspect and document in-process production to confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production manager.
  • Inspect and document finished products to confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Ensure all company quality check procedures are followed during every production phase.
  • Educate production team on quality control issues and work with department supervisors to improve overall company safety and product quality.
  • Perform and document operational functional testing, troubleshooting and debugging of components, subassemblies, material and manufacturing systems to isolate faults and determine remedy for malfunction and process improvements.
  • Construct, calibrate, adjust, test and maintain equipment devises and systems.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database and note the corrective actions that were taken.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing as a quality control inspector or equivalent trade or technical schooling
  • Strong understanding of raw materials and the manufacturing industry with proven history of understanding industry safety standards and quality expectations
  • Understands and can do algebra and geometry functions

Required Skills:

  • Basic mechanical and electronic skills
  • Literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • 20/20 vision and can tell colors apart
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical documents, drawings and diagrams
  • Excellent communication skills with everyone involved in the process (managers, operators and leads)
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Must be able to stand, bend, reach and quickly remove products during manufacturing
  • Physical strength and physical stamina, able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. routinely, up to 70 lbs. occasionally

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen required.
